BERLIN HONG KONG LONDON MILAN NEW YORK PARIS BEIJING SYDNEY TOKYO

THE NEW EDITION UNFURLS THE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

WITH AN ESTABLISHED CATALOGUE OF 29 CITIES, IN BOTH PRINT AND DIGITAL VERSIONS, THE LOUIS VUITTON CITY GUIDE HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AS THE INDISPENSABLE COMPANION TO THE DISCERNING TRAVELER.

Since 1998, Louis Vuitton has instilled its nomadic nature into its City Guides and proposed a selection that is as specialized as it is individual. Completely updated, Paris is enriched this year with new addresses, following in the wake of London, New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Berlin, Milan and Sydney.

Each city is thus revealed by independent journalists and guests from all horizons.

This year, architect Dominique Perrault invites us to discover his Paris, artist Camille Walala accompanies us throughout London, curator Nancy Spector shares her New York, and Takeshi Kitano pursues a personalized exploration of Tokyo.

A unique trailblazer highlighting the latest trends, each guide speaks as readily to flâneurs as to business travelers, or even local residents: there are palaces and charming boutique hotels, gourmet restaurants and neighborhood bistros, popular markets and fi ne épice r ie s, antique shops and designer hubs, museums and boutiques, key monuments and secret spots…

LOUIS VUITTON  CITY GUIDE

The completely subjective vision reinforces the digital side of the Louis Vuitt on City Guide. The mobile application, available on iPhone or iPad, offers the entire catalogue of cities and covers thousands of regularly-updated addresses. It spans from Apple TV, which proposes an ensemble of subsidiary video programming, to Tambour Horizon, the fi rst connected Louis Vuitt on watch, which adapts to the application’s “Around Me” and “24 Hours” functionalities. The travel experience intensifi es, and perfects its art.

INDEPENDENT CONTRIBUTORS ALL KEEN OBSERVERS

Expert wordsmiths and seasoned communicators are behind every guide in the collection.

To capture the heart and spirit of each city, Louis Vuitt on reaches out to journalists, writers, major figures in the world of arts and lett ers, many of whom divide their time between two cities and whose work oft en appears in the most prestigious newspapers and magazines.

Their contributions, joined with those of artists, businesspeople, creative geniuses of various stripes, all backed by the authority and experience of Louis Vuitt on, make each City Guide a publication like no other – original, off b eat and invaluable. Bursting with curiosity, cosmopolitan, irreverent, playful and literary, each guide reflbects the personalities of its contributors. All of them are astute observers of life and wear their vast cultural knowledge with ease and elegance. They have the rare gift of being able to appreciate both the frivolous and the essential, seeking out what is truly magnificent in the many little pleasures each city has to offer.

A PERSONAL VIEW OF THE CITY FROM A SPECIAL GUEST

Each Louis Vuitton City Guide includes the participation of a special guest contributor, who all speak from personal experience of their home cities.

These guests take the reader on a personal exploration of their city, along the way sharing tips on their favourite spots. A fi rst person singular initiation to the city.

LOUIS VUITTON  CITY GUIDE

At various points throughout the guides and at the end of each chapter, these guest contributors open their personal address books and divulge several secret preferred haunts. This year, new voices off er an entertaining and unexpected look at the cities they love, such as the fi lm director Takeshi Kitano in Tokyo, the architect Dominique Perrault in Paris, the designer André Fu in Hong Kong, the artist Camille Walala in London, the curator Nancy Spector in New York and the actress Miranda Ott o in Sydney.

NOTED PHOTOGRAPHERS CAPTURE VIEWS OF EACH CITY EXCLUSIVELY FOR LOUIS VUITTON

The Louis Vuitt on City Guides have always placed special emphasis on the fi nely craft ed contributions of their writers, supporting them in their quest to fi nd just the right words and an appropriately elegant style to reveal the soul of each city.

Without departing in any way from this philosophy, the aim in introducing photographic contributions is to off er readers another perspective, not merely to illustrate the text. The photography collective Tendance Floue was selected to produce a new series of images, none of which have ever been published before. Offering a fresh look at all cities, the collective’s photographers set out to capture the charms and distinctive allure of each port of call, bringing back a portfolio of gems to grace the pages of this year’s City Guides.
